The Hideaway, Lake Como, Italy

Full rebuild of an apartment in an ancient villa close to the Como lake in northern Italy. The apartment is located on the ground floor and has access to a spacious private garden with vines, trees, and grass. We kept a lot of original features, such as Venetian terrazzo flooring, ancient wooden floor, and frescoed ceilings.

Adding modern comfort and combining colors with ancient details has given the space a personality telling stories about the family who lives there as well as the history of the villa. To fit the whole family and their guests we added lofts in the bedrooms, utilizing the high ceilings.

The space is characterized by French doors all around, with access to the private garden from almost all rooms.
